The Woman Making a Difference Award was sponsored by the Equity and Employment Law Centre won by Ann Coffey who leads the sunshine breast cancer group at LUHFT.
The group offers solidarity to patients through and beyond their cancer journey.
Careful planning by 6 members ensures that the social and emotional side of the journey is taken care of through a number of events all subsidised. We rely on donations in order to achieve everything we plan not only for the patients but also to help the clinics at the Royal and Aintree in their work to buy the necessary items in carrying out their work .
All this has been acknowledged in the winning of the award in what patients are doing to support other patients at a very difficult time in their lives and the lives of their families.
The nomination for this award came as a complete surprise but we are now part of the MWOTY family and linking and being able to experience working alongside other charities and being given the opportunities to showcase our sunshine charity – there are very exciting times ahead for the group in helping us make a difference and develop more as a charity in supporting these patients through and beyond treatment
